I remember the day I first held my Canon AT-1. I had never owned a "fully manual" camera and my natural instinct was to learn it inside out. I would shoot two or three rolls of film and have to wait a week to get them back from the lab, two weeks if it was black and white film! Fast forward 19 years and not only can I see the image before I shoot it, but I can print an 8x10 on professional photo paper in 5 seconds or less!
I have spent years capturing the first moments of my nieces, nephews, friends and clients children, and have watched many a Mother's eye well up when I present them with beautiful portraits of their children; be it a daughter in a Christening robe or a Wedding dress. It wasn't until May of 2007 that I realized exactly how they felt and how pricesless those photos were; I became a Mother myself.
I gazed at her through every 3am feeding thinking "I will never forget this moment..." but with every brillant new gurgle or hand gesture, you do forget. That's when I pull out the photos of her first night sleeping soundly in her crib, the night I cried like a baby because she moved from the bassinett beside me, to the huge sequestered crib way far at the bottom of my bed and it brings me back to that night.
Every man, woman and child has a natural beauty, be it a quirky smile, a face full of freckles, a toothless grin, caring eyes or a modest demeanor. When I get behind my camera I focus on capturing your natural attributes to create lifelong memories that will bring you back to that special moment or day, forever.
